So for every American who does present himself as a terrible "ambassador", I'm sure there is another that is being a good ambassador. Do you congratulate those American's for being a good ambassador? And actually the American was just trying to have a vacation and found himself in your world unaware that he had to watch his comments as he was in the presence of a judge of his behavior. That's a bit pompous don't you think? I'm sure for every European who's visited our shores and behaved badly in my presence I've looked at them and said they were having a bad day and I was hopeful I would catch them on a better day.

Re: Losing my Cool

The easiest answer to the Arizona law is that it's been rendered unconstitutional in Federal court. But you are correct that your 'American' is a dud, you should have ask him if 'America' was so great, why was he here? :-) that usually works.

Re: Play-dates

Hey John - I just joined CitySocialising in Liverpool so thanks for the tip!

Re: Play-dates

City Socialising sounds great. The socializing website sounds like a great idea! Volunteering is also a good way to meet people who may have similar interests to you.

Re: Play-dates

Gosh John - hmmm you're a writer and a blogger. Aren't there any groups of like minded beings in Cardiff? As a musician I can hook up with a whole bunch of musicians through say a bluegrass group where people just want to play. There's your play date. Why don't you take up an instrument!

Re: Play-dates

john! that's so cool! way to get yourself out there. i'm a little jealous (because there aren't a TON of unique ways to meet people in stearns county), but you've inspired me to get creative and LOOK!

Re: The Benefactor

Sorry. Is there something going on in Cardiff on 27th November? I'd like to book the 3-bed private ensuite exclusively and the 27th for all the rooms are blocked.

I'd like to book the room for 26th and 27th November, departing on the 28th. Why should conservatives get a monopoly on patriotism? It's gotten to infused with politics as of late. Politics and patriotism should be considered completely separate issues, IMO.

In the meantime, that tumblr is awesome. Added to my RSS. I'm also an American who fell head over heels for Ireland. I spent quite a bit of time in Galway last year, and have been trying to get back since. I like reading your blog, its nice to see someone else my age who has a similar story- what with college education leading to a hard economy, which leads to people like you and I traveling the world, picking up whatever work we can find, and simply enjoying the ride. Life is far too short to stick around and wait to land a desk job with good benefits.

I hope to continue following your blog. I find myself in different places all the time as well, and there's never any shortage of things to write about.

Nice to meet you, John!
xo
Tall Brunette

http://www.tallbrunette.wordpr...

Re: An Open Letter to America

http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.fi...

Re: An Open Letter to America

Dear John,
This blog would be less douchey if you would stop douching all over it.

Thank you.

Love,
Peter

P.S. I now use self check-out exclusively! Considering we have to bag our own groceries anyway, there’s no real advantage to using regular checkout. I simply pick a station, pass my groceries through the scanner, place in bag and pay the machine. No more standing in long lines held up by the chatty checkout lady discussing such intriguing subjects as her dog’s latest haircut with her customer who also happens to be her neighbor. Those days are over!

Re: An Open Letter to America

John, I liked that one!
